Greetings in the name of the Risen Lord!
It gives me immense joy to learn that the dedication of the Fujairah CSI Church is happening on 4 th February 2017. The dedication of the Fujairah Church is significant due to two reasons. Firstly, Fujairah Church is the first fully owned church of the Church of South India (CSI) in the United Arab Emirates. Secondly, it is the fulfillment of the long cherished dream and the prayer of the CSI Parish, Dubai.
As a co-traveler in the faith journey towards the Church project, I thank God Almighty, for making the dream a reality and thank those who are part and parcel of the church construction through their prayer, expertise and sharing their resources. May the Fujairah Church be a symbol of Christian witness in the UAE.
I am delighted and indeed privileged to share my greetings on this occasion of the dedication of our first church in the UAE. At this holy moment, we can testify with the psalmist, “This was the Lord’s doing; It is marvellous in our eyes”. On this special occasion I would like to praise God for the ways he opened for us through Dr. Jacob Kuruvilla. When Dr. Kuruvilla visited the Ruler along with his friend and shared our need to have a church, His Highness The Ruler of Fujairah sanctioned it immediately and gave orders to make the necessary arrangements. This is truly as Nehemiah had testified long back, “The King granted to me according to the good hand of my God upon me”.
A church in the valley
Fujairah church a dream come true for CSI
“… therefore we, His servants, will arise and build ...” – Nehemiah 2: 20
Some two centuries ago, British missionary Rev Thomas Norton reached Alapuzha, in Kerala, and planted a church. Early missionaries preached their faith, but also set out to create social and political awareness among people. They started educational institutions that helped transform the social and economic landscape of Kerala. The English education they began empowered people to travel far and wide and contribute to societies all over the world.
And that brought Keralites to this land of milk and honey called the UAE that they would eventually call a home away from home. Among them was a group in Dubai who were members of the Church of South India (CSI). For this group, there was “no spot so dear as a little brown church in the vale”, as William S Pitts wrote in his well-known hymn. Nostalgia for the church brought them together.
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
“Give thanks to the lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever”. (Ps. 107:1)
It is the beginning of something new and wonderful that God is doing through our new Church in Fujairah for the C.S.I Worshiping Community in U.A.E.
C.S.I PARISH DUBAI stands as a proud testament to the Lord's abounding favor on those who sought his name in a foreign land over 42 years ago, From a humble beginning of the 28 C.S.I members assembling in the residence of Mr. Koshy Varghese in 1975 to worship our lord we have grown to a full-fledged parish of almost 750 members in Dubai.
With all glory given to our Almighty God, we can proudly say that the Dubai CSI Parish as the mother Church had the opportunity to bring forward all the reputed CSI churches in the UAE. Today by the grace of God, we are having 5 C.S.I Parishes worshiping our Lord in U.A.E
